Why I am transitioning to destination wedding photography

Over the past few months I’ve been able to take some incredible trips; from a portfolio building retreat in sunny San Diego to a 2 am impromptu trip to Colorado. This made me realize the never ending passion I have for travel and adventure and the possibilities that are out there for me and my camera.

I want to step outside my comfort zone

Iowa always has my heart and always will have my heart but my goal for 2022 is to step more outside of my comfort zone and out of my home here in Iowa! I want to meet awesome peeps, see amazing things, and create awesome memories! I feel like I’ve establish SRP very well here and I’m ready to take on a new challenge!

I want more chances to express my creativity

Getting off the plane from San Diego was bittersweet. It was bitter because I was given the opportunity to create work that I have never been more proud of and I was sad that it was over. It was sweet because it made me realize that I want to keep chasing that feelings and keep creating work that overflows my cup. Photography is more to me than just taking photos. It’s being behind the scenes helping with creative direction, helping my clients choose an incredible location, making their dream come to life and it’s delivering photos to them that transports them back to their special moment.

I want to add more tools to my camera bag

(See what I did there? Instead of “add more tools under my belt”) Anyway! Even though I can say that I feel like I’ve traveled all across Iowa, I also want to be able to say that I flew to Oregon or Spain for a magical elopement ceremony with just me, myself and my camera by my side!

I can’t wait to see what 2022 has in store for me as I make this major transition, and to my Iowa peeps, I’m not leaving you behind! Iowa is my home!
